Summer Holiday Club
Every year, as a church, we run a week long holiday club in the summer holidays which is organised and run by the Community Worker. It is for Primary School aged children and is run by around 15 voluntary leaders, mostly church members but with some leaders coming from the local community, we are also lucky enough to have some young leaders also from the church to help. Holiday club is based on 5 different stories from the bible and the children enjoy fun packed days of aerobics, songs, drama, quizzes, team building games, crafts, sports, talks, prayer activities and memory verse games with refreshments all based on the bible themes for the day.
Please see the holiday club page for details of this years Summer holiday club.
Easter & Christmas Holiday Clubs
We run mini holiday clubs in the Easter & Christmas holidays. This will be run the same as the summer holiday club but for either one or two days.
Please see the holiday club page for details.
Family Fun Mornings
This is a new community venture that has been going for just over a year and we hold them in the
half term holidays on Tuesday morning from 10.30-12noon. It is a family event so children had to be accompanied by an adult. The hall is set out with various activities, crafts and games for the children to participate in.
It is open to pre-school as well as primary school aged children, the mornings are very busy
but lots of fun! We have a snack time during the morning and feedback from parents has been very positive and they enjoyed being able to do the activities as a family.
Please see the Family Fun Morning page for details of the next event.
Easter Treasure Hunt
This event is run on Easter Monday at Highwoods Community Primary School from 2p.m. - 4p.m.
The children go on a hunt around the school grounds to find the eggs with letters on them to help them solve the puzzle. There are also Easter craft activities available for the children to do both inside and outside plus refreshments. The children all go home with an Easter Egg. We run this with St Lukes.
Please see the Easter Treasure Hunt page for details of this years events
We run these events during the summer holidays on Tuesday afternoons from 2p.m. - 4p.m. at various park locations around Highwoods. We work with the St Johns & Highwoods Community Centre and Footprints Drama Company to put on these events. We start the afternoon with an opening ceremony before the children can have a go at all the activities on offer which we try to make as much fun as possible. We have done - cycle slalom, bean bag toss, egg and spoon races on exercise bikes, water gun fun and lots more. We finish with some team games before giving out medals to the winners of each activity and certificates for all the children.
Please see the Silly Sports page for details of this years events.
This event is run on October 31st by ourselves and by St Lukes Church as an alternative to tricking or treating on Halloween. The children enjoy lots of different activities including up to 12 different
crafts to make or eat which are all based on light or mess! We have refreshments available for the
children and adults during the evening. After the children have finished the crafts we have a messy talk and finish off the evening with a disco for those who want to stay. The children get a goody bag to take home along with al the crafts they have made.
Please see the Light Party page later in the year for details of this years event.
